Whose words. Each quote is the maker’s tasting notes or, where marked, its product description, copied from its own product page or a maker-supplied wrapper image. We add no scores of our own. The wheel’s words are the ones those quotes and the bars’ names use; every underlined word in a quote is one the wheel matched, so you can see why each bar is there. General words such as “fruity” or “ripe fruit” name no particular fruit, so the wheel doesn’t sort them into a family.
Prices. Bar and disc prices from 21 makers’ shop feeds were re-checked on 5 October 2026. Other prices were checked on 1 October 2026. Prices are in the shop’s currency, before shipping and tax. Hu’s single-bar prices are a retailer’s, checked on 1 October 2026.
On sale now. Maker stock was re-checked on 5 October 2026, from the shop’s available size or a working buy button. Hu’s retailer listings keep their 1 October 2026 check. Stock changes, and some makers don’t ship to every country.
Bean-to-bar. Marked only where the maker’s own pages show it makes chocolate from the bean. Chocolatiers who work from couverture made by others say so, or don’t say.
A maker’s notes tell you what they taste in their own bar: the fruit of the bean, the roast, the sugar. Your notes may differ, and that’s the point of tasting. The quickest way to learn what you like is to taste two or three bars side by side, from the lightest to the darkest, and write down what you find before you read the wrapper.
To see where the beans come from, try the Origin Atlas. To make a bar of your own, start in the Chocolate Lab.
